Nathalie and I are just repacking our bags and getting ready for our flight to Anchorage, which leaves from Seattle at 5pm this afternoon.

Around midnight, we’ll be meeting Peter in the bar of Long House Hotel for a few beers to christen the tour.

Ok, so technically we’re not in Alaska yet. But during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897 and 1898 Seattle was the last calling point for many miners heading north to Alaska. So it seems only fitting that we make a brief call here before leaving for Anchorage on Monday afternoon. Click to read more …

This blog first started in 2007 as a place to record my road trip through Alaska with Peter Mulvey. Since the end of that amazing journey it has remained pretty much untouched, aside from the occasional visit by me to see if it was still up and running.

But now, all that is about to change. With the second tour of Alaska only a couple of weeks away, the site is undergoing a major facelift. In the coming days the original content will be restored, and shortly thereafter the adventure will begin anew.
